JDRF Austin’s The OneParty Raised Over $1.7 Million Towards Type 1 Diabetes Research
The fundraising event spanned two days, including golf and pickleball tournaments as well as an elegant gala
At the end of April, JDRF Austin celebrated it’s 13th annual gala, The OneParty. The OneParty is a collection of three events spanning over two days including a golf tournament held at Lions Municipal Golf Course, pickleball tournament held at Westlake Country Club and an evening gala at the JW Marriott, which included auctions, cocktails, dinner & dancing. A highlight of the gala this year was the inclusion of an After Party with dancing to a mix of tunes by the Dallas-based band, Haywire. Bringing in over $1.7 million, the OneParty is the largest annual fundraising event for JDRF Austin, a non-profit seeking to raise money for research and a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
About JDRF
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease which causes the pancreas to stop producing the vital hormone, insulin. It can occur at any age and there is no cure… yet. Every month, 5,300 people in the United States are diagnosed with T1D, which is why JDRF aggressively pursues innovative research leading to breakthroughs!
JDRF Austin’s The OneParty Gala
During cocktail hour at The OneParty, guests enjoyed live music by Kym Warer Bluegrass Duo. The silent auction included unique items like classy cowboy boots generously donated by Miron Crosby, selections of high-end bourbons, weekend stays in and around Austin and a selection of concerts at the Moody Center.
The live auction items at The OneParty are always a hit and this year featured fabulous trips and experiences for guests to browse and bid on. A featured trip included a Boston get-away with tickets to two games to see the Red Sox take on both the Houston Astros & the Texas Rangers, a private tour of Fenway Park as well as signed memorabilia. Other trips included a week-long stay in Croatia, a week in Cabo and a trip to the great outdoors of Whitefish, Montana. While the trips always draw intense bidding, none captured the audience quite like the sweet 11-week old mini-goldendoodle puppy!
The theme for this year’s event was Hope Grows Here. The JDRF Austin community contributed in very generous ways ensuring that hope did bloom in the quest for a cure of Type 1 Diabetes.
