Outstanding in the Field Brings an Enchanting Dining Experience to Austin
From a dreamy candlelit dinner in a garden to an upcoming feast at a farm, learn about these unique culinary experiences
A picturesque setting. A unique communal dining experience. A long table that snakes through a garden, a farm, a vineyard, a seaside, or even city streets. Outstanding in the Field is world renowned for their exquisite dinner parties in the dreamiest of locations.
Dinner in the garden
On October 11, we were delighted to attend an Outstanding in the Field Dinner, powered by Resy, and hosted by American Express to celebrate their Member Week. The event featured Austin’s award-winning Chef Fermín Núñez of Suerte and Este, which took place the beautiful UMLAUF Sculpture Garden.
The garden was aglow with candles. Simple floral arrangements adorned the long dining table that weaved through the gardens. Guests were treated to refreshing cocktails featuring Desert Door Texas Sotol and wines from Texas Hill Country’s Lewis Wines before taking guided tours of the sculpture garden. All were welcomed by Chef Núñez before taking seats at the communal table and dining on multiple delicious courses, featuring meat and produce sourced from local Austin ranches and farms.

A communal culinary celebration
Outstanding in the Field offers a unique way for the community to come together and enjoy a meal while celebrating the individuals who bring such culinary delights to the table — from chefs to farmers, cheesemakers, vintners, brewers and many more.
Founded in 1999 by Jim Denevan, Outstanding in the Field was designed to be an unconventional dining experience that started on his brother’s farm. These dinners have now been hosted in all 50 U.S. states and 24 countries around the globe, with tables set various organic farms, vineyards, beaches, and more. This “roving restaurant without walls” offers a one-of-a-kind celebration of food, wine, and connection.

Outstanding in the Field is often a bucket-list experience for foodies who travel to exciting locations for culinary adventures. Here in Austin, we are very fortunate to have a few opportunities to enjoy this experience close to home. Get tickets for Oct. 14 or 15 at Austin’s Boggy Creek Farm.
