The Contemporary Austin Celebrated Their Spring Exhibit Opening With a Lively Art Party
The museum’s spring exhibition season features the work of Jiab Prachakul, Raven Halfmoon, and Tenant of Culture

On Friday, January 31, The Contemporary Austin celebrated the highly anticipated opening of its spring 2025 exhibitions at its downtown museum location, the Jones Center. This exhibition features the work of Jiab Prachakul, Raven Halfmoon, and Tenant of Culture. The event brought together artists, art lovers and museum members for a night of creativity, conversation and connection.

The celebration began with a special early preview for museum members, giving them the first look at the stunning new exhibitions, followed by a public opening where everyone was invited to join the fun. The galleries were alive with engaging works that sparked dialogue, while the energy of the night spilled out onto the rooftop. Attendees were treated to an array of immersive activities inspired by the exhibitions. Guests had the chance to redesign secondhand garments thanks to a Tenant of Culture-inspired screen printing activity with Goody Bag, groove to a special musical set curated by mHart Media for Jiab Prachakul: Sweet Solitude, which featured fresh tracks from artists across Asia and the Asian diaspora, and participate in a hands-on artmaking activity led by talented instructors from the museum’s art school, taking inspiration from Raven Halfmoon’s striking ceramic sculptures.
As the evening unfolded, the mood remained high on the Moody Rooftop, where guests mingled, sipped complimentary cocktails, and enjoyed live music from electronic-dream-pop band Terra Cognita. The event was a true blend of culture and camaraderie—demonstrating the power of art to bring people together.
The exhibitions, Jiab Prachakul: Sweet Solitude, Raven Halfmoon: Flags of Our Mothers, and HOST: Tenant of Culture, will be on view through August 3, 2025. With plenty of opportunities to visit and explore the works further, The Contemporary Austin invites visitors to check the events calendar on their website for the latest updates.
