The grounds of the Umlauf Sculpture Garden + Museum set the scene for An Evening in Bloom, a celebration marking the launch of “The Seasons of Little Tree,” the debut children’s book by psychologist and author Nahal Delpassand, with illustrations by Aram Amini.
Inspired by the book’s themes of resilience, belonging and personal growth, the evening brought the story to life throughout the sculpture garden. Guests walked the grounds while enjoying bites from Antojitos Snack Bar, charcuterie from Honey Brie ATX, custom cookies from Kellie’s Baking Co. and cakes from Flower & Flour. Signature cocktails from Social Butterfly ATX and wines from Ant Moore and Chelsea Blalock Wines were also served, while The HoneyMoon House filled the venue with floral arrangements. The evening’s soundtrack was curated by DJ Soleiman.
The meaning behind “Little Tree”
The event included interactive experiences for guests of all ages. Hello Flower Bar invited attendees to create and take home hand-tied bouquets, while Giggle Crew entertained children with face painting and balloon art.
The evening also featured a conversation with Delpassand and Amini about the inspiration behind the book and its themes of identity, patience and self-acceptance.
Delpassand, whose first name means “little tree” in Farsi, wrote “The Seasons of Little Tree” as a story about growth, comparison and finding one’s own sense of purpose. The book follows Little Tree as she moves through life’s changing seasons, learning that growth often happens quietly beneath the surface and that everyone grows in their own time.
For Delpassand, the evening represented more than a book launch. It marked the culmination of years of personal and professional growth, as well as the realization of a lifelong dream to create a story that helps children and families feel seen, valued and understood.
Made possible by family, friends, community partners and local vendors, An Evening in Bloom celebrated storytelling, creativity and the beauty of becoming, bringing the heart of “The Seasons of Little Tree” to life throughout the evening.
