Bat Fest

La Fiesta del Grito de la Independencia de México

This free event marks the 215th anniversary of the beginning of the independence of Mexico. Enjoy entertainment from the Roy Lozano Ballet Folklórico, Mariachi Capital and other bands. The event will include a Mexican artisan mercado; a community resource fair with information on health care, immigration and the Texas, Mexico and Austin shared history; as well as children’s activities. VIBE Weekend

The Downtown Austin Alliance is debuting VIBE Weekend, a new downtown experience celebrating stories of Austin through music, art and culture on the historic 500 block of Old Sixth Street at Palm Door on Sixth and the parking lot at 522 E. Sixth St. Free and open to the public, this two-day event features live and musical performances, art installations and creative experiences for all ages.

Stephen Mills’ “Grimm Tales”
The Long Center

Choreographed by Artistic Director Stephen Mills, with an original score by Graham Reynolds, and featuring the artwork of Natalie Frank, this production turns age-old fairytales on their head, revealing the cautionary truths lurking beneath the surface of 19th-century fairy tales. Inspired by the provocative, large format gouache and pastel drawings of feminist painter Natalie Frank, this mesmerizing production immerses audiences in a world where innocence meets darkness. balletaustin.org
