Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert presents an live orchestral rendition of the series’ iconic soundtrack, paired with a nearly two-hour special recap of the animated series’ three seasons displayed on a full-size cinema screen. The projection will feature the original dialogue and sound effects without any pre-recorded music, allowing the live orchestra to perform the legendary score live and in perfect sync with the show scenes. The result? A truly immersive and grandiose concert experience that breathes new life into Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Just as Avatar: The Last Airbender masterfully blends Chinese culture with anime and American cartoon styles, an orchestra especially handpicked for this event will harmoniously combine Eastern and Western musical traditions – a symphonic fusion that faithfully reflects the signature sound of the Avatar saga. Taiko drums and erhus will share the spotlight with violins and clarinets, while the series’ fan-favorite scenes are presented in chronological order on the film screen, breathing life into Aang’s liberating quest in an epic and authentic way.

The acclaimed Twyla Tharp Dance returns to Austin with a celebratory program that includes two new works and a lively revival. Featuring music by rock and roll pioneer Chuck Berry, Ocean’s Motion (1975) celebrates teenage good times, spilling over with youthful daring and high-wattage performances of Tharp’s signature blend of ballet and jazz dance. Brel is a new solo in homage to the Belgian songwriter Jacques Brel where Tharp’s command of wit and musicality shine in dancing that is both introspective and stunningly athletic. Composer Simeon ten Holt’s minimalist music mixes with Vivaldi’s Baroque scores in The Ballet Master, a new work mixing technical precision and joyful ease. Unpredictable and dynamic, Tharp’s creations solidify her place as one of the century’s most innovative choreographers.

Deeply moved by the 1998 murder of a young gay man in Wyoming, acclaimed conductor Craig Hella Johnson composed an evocative and compassionate musical response that leaves audiences hopeful and joyous. Austin’s own Grammy award-winning Conspirare premiered the piece in 2016. It has now been performed by more than 70 choirs across the world, spreading the music’s message of compassion and understanding. Conspirare is now creating a special new staging of the production to celebrate its anti-hate message, more relevant now than ever. Audiences will experience the extraordinary voices of Conspirare, an instrumental ensemble, and moving visual images in this profound work.

Rex Orange County brings FINALLY: A Theatre Tour to Bass Concert Hall in October in support of his latest album, The Alexander Technique.

Rex Orange County has always made music about growing up: His winsome, richly-produced indie-pop songs tap into the richness of first love and first heartbreak with wise beyond his years poeticism and a keen understanding of the universal human condition. Across his four beloved studio albums, Alex O’Connor has continued to refine that vision, zeroing in on the minutiae of love with an unfathomable sense of craft and finesse.

But here’s the thing about staking your career on writing youthful love songs: At some point, you have to grow up. On his fifth album The Alexander Technique, 26-year-old O’Connor turns his gaze inward, interrogating the pain and mental health issues that have been plaguing him beneath the surface since he achieved global success as a teenager. The record is named for a therapeutic practice in which back pain is treated in order to address deeper health problems, and it’s an apt name for O’Connor’s most raw album to date: what may have began as a simple exercise in changing the purview of his writing ended up becoming his most confessional, open-hearted album to date.

Huang Yi is a Taiwanese dancer, choreographer, and inventor creating partnership between humans and robots. In Ink, Yi and audio-visual innovator Ryoichi Kurokawa dismantle and reconstruct the lines from a hundred artworks in renowned calligrapher Tong Yang-Tze’s Silent Music series. Exploring textures of movement, sound, visual art, and space, Yi and his dancers perform alongside an industrial robot he programmed. Mixing movement with mechanical and multimedia elements to create dance that corresponds with the flow of data, Ink makes each performer, whether human or machine, a dancing instrument.

Equal parts ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, Andy Samberg and Carole Burnett, Danae Hays is a fresh, new female voice in the comedy and music worlds. Her cast of zany southern characters and parody country music songs have pushed her to the top of the Spotify and Apple music charts and earned her a multimillion follower fanbase on TikTok.

Her recently self-released first parody single on Apple, ROAD HARD, outperformed Carrie Underwood’s recent single released the same day. Some of the most established writers and performers in country have expressed interest in writing on her forthcoming comedy album including Ashley McBride, Pistol Annie’s, Terri Clark and Hardy.

Disney Concerts and AMP present “Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert,” a cross-national tour where Encanto lovers of all ages have the opportunity to sing along with their favorite GRAMMY®-Award winning songs performed by a live band while watching the full film.

Produced by AMP Worldwide, “Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert” will include all the music of the Academy Award®-winning film, including iconic hits like We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Surface Pressure performed live. Live characters do not appear in this event.
