The Neill-Cochran House Museum will host the latest installment of its Modern Times Lecture Series on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, from 2:30 to 4 p.m., featuring Dr. Emily Neff, Kelso Director of the San Antonio Museum of Art. The lecture will explore the artistic contributions of Robert Jenkins Onderdonk and his son, Robert Julian Onderdonk, two influential Texas painters of the early 20th century.
Robert Onderdonk, known for his Fall of the Alamo painting, played a pivotal role in advancing the arts in Texas. His son Julian became the state’s first notable Impressionist landscape painter. Dr. Neff will discuss their impact on Texas art and how national trends influenced their work.
The event will be held in person and online, with tickets priced at $10 for general admission, $5 for students, and free for museum members. Doors open at 2 p.m.
