On Saturday, October 5, Texas’ most mouthwatering showdown for a good cause returns – Garrison Brothers in partnership with Beef Loving Texans present the second annual Hye Steaks Challenge taking place at Garrison Brothers Distillery in Hill Country. All proceeds benefit Texas Restaurant Foundation.

A celebration of the finest flavors Texas has to offer, Hye Steaks Challenge features a LIVE FIRE cookoff between a dozen chefs from all over the Lone Star State. 

Tickets include samples of 6 different steak dishes crafted by 12 of Texas’ top chefs, as well as 5 special Garrison Brothers Bourbon cocktails, complimentary wine, live music, a raffle, and entertainment.

Canje, the award-winning East Austin restaurant, is hosting a collaboration dinner with Chef Paola Velez on Tuesday, October 8, to celebrate her cookbook “Bodega Bakes.” The prix-fixe menu will blend flavors from Canje and Velez’s Dōekï Dōekï pop-ups.

All guests will receive a signed copy of “Bodega Bakes.” Velez, known for founding Bakers Against Racism and her Afro-Latin pop-up series, Dōekï Dōekï, will showcase dishes like Sancocho & Fufu and Plantain gelato fried ice cream. Tickets are $105 per person via OpenTable.

Juliet Italian Kitchen is launching its first annual Grapes to Glass: Italian Wine Tasting Series, a three-part event taking place on September 22, October 20, and November 10 from 2-5 p.m. at its Barton Springs, Georgetown, and Arboretum locations. Guests will explore 16 specialty Italian wines, guided by expert wine ambassadors, paired with classic Italian bites like Fried Ravioli and Miniature Cannolis. Tickets are $45 per event or $120 for a bundle of all three, with bundle ticket holders entered in a raffle for a three-course chef’s dinner.

Hosted on the patio, Bar Peached will have two bars offering exclusive Los Sundays cocktails available for guests to try along with some bar snacks and a limited menu. Their traditional expressions are crafted using only 3 ingredients. Mature agaves, volcanic deep well water and a proprietary, naturally occurring yeast for fermentation. Nothing outside these three ingredients is added.

The specialty Los Sundays x Bar Peached cocktails that will be offered are:

Sunday Funday: Los Sundays reposado tequila, pomegranate, agave, lime, togarashi salt $15.

The 13th annual Austin Food & Wine Festival returns to Auditorium Shores from November 1-3, 2024. Presented by FOOD & WINE magazine and C3 Presents, the festival features an impressive lineup of chefs and culinary talents from across the country, celebrating food, wine, and spirits with top-tier expertise and flavors.

Swan Songs, the Austin nonprofit focused on the power of music at the end of life, announces ticket and table options, sponsorship opportunities, and more for the 14th annual Swan Songs Serenade.
