The Bullock Museum will celebrate Star Wars Day during H-E-B Free First Sunday with free exhibition admission, intergalactic-themed family activities and a free concert by the Austin Philharmonic Orchestra. Visitors will have the opportunity to take photos with a member of the 501st Legion and Saber Guild — Jakku Temple and Rebel Legion — Kessel Base. Visitors will enjoy a space-themed storytime with the Austin Public Library, activities with Girlstart and have fun with comics from Dragon’s Lair Austin. Austin Philharmonic will provide live music from movie soundtracks in the Grand Lobby.
Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Family activities are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free concert begins at 2 p.m.

H-E-B has launched True Texas Tunes, a new monthly concert series in partnership with Housing Opportunities for Musicians and Entertainers (HOME). Held on the third Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Congress H-E-B’s True Texas BBQ patio, the series features performances from local musicians, with proceeds benefiting HOME’s mission to provide housing support for aging Austin artists.
The series kicks off May 17 with a performance by Marcia Ball’s Boogie Trinity featuring Floyd Domino and Nick Connolly. Upcoming acts include Shelley King, Carolyn Wonderland, Midnight Snack, Sister Golden Hair, and others. Admission is free.

The SIMS Foundation will celebrate 30 years of supporting mental wellness in Austin’s music community with a special anniversary event on Sunday, May 18, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Empire Control Room & Garage. Open to the public and family-friendly, the event features performances by Heartless Bastards, Fastball, Nakia & The Never Not Now, The Bros Fresh, and more, including a special set from Night Glitter and Friends featuring SIMS Foundation founders Alejandro Escovedo, Don Harvey, and Wayne Nagel.
Founded in 1995 in memory of Austin musician Sims Ellison, the nonprofit has provided mental health and recovery services to more than 25,000 musicians, music industry professionals, and their families. Proceeds from the celebration will directly support SIMS Foundation programs, helping ensure continued access to affordable emotional wellness resources for the local music community.

The public is invited to celebrate the paddlers’ efforts at a free post-paddle party from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LCRA Redbud Center, featuring live music, food and drinks, and a fundraising auction.
