Kelti Smith Presents Timeless Wallpaper Designs with a Contemporary Twist

Elevate your space with locally hand-painted wallpaper from H. TOWNES

Kelti Smith of H. TOWNES

Trending now, wallpaper is back. Geometric wall accents, paint blocking and textures are some of the enhancements being made to homes with wallpaper, but really — it’s all about personal preference, taste and individual style.

Austin-based designer Kelti Smith owns H. TOWNES, a studio that focuses on timeless, hand-crafted designs. Rich colors and contemporary interpretations of traditional elements are seen throughout Smith’s thoughtful designs, which often focus on floral paintings. The idea of “something that you live with,” that’s timeless and can bring a depth to the space, is the foundation and inspiration for kelti Smith’s wallpaper design, with each piece undergoing a series of test prints to ensure quality and closeness to the original vision. Smith also likes to focus on reinterpreting traditional designs to make them contemporary — things that she would be interested in owning herself.

Austin-inspired aesthetics in each unique print

A background in fashion inspires her handcrafted brush strokes, which are all made in the U.S. Current collections include swimmers, peonies, reeds, longhorns, lilies and celeste. A fan favorite, the longhorn collection features a pale blue background with scribbles of darker blue trees and carefully drawn subtleties of longhorns scattered in groups and aesthetically placed across the print.

Swimmers is another unique print as pinks and greens accentuate painted swimmers and trees, showcasing Ketli Smith’s love for Austin’s swimming holes. Various ordering options are available, with a minimum five yards required for purchase. The wallpaper ships untrimmed and is printed on standard clay coated paper.
