La Embajada Opens in Austin with Elegant Handmade Goods Sourced from Mexico
Step inside this new Clarksville retail shop dedicated to mid-modern and contemporary designs from Mexico
Now open in Clarksville, La Embajada is a new retail shop that celebrates modern casual elegance with beautiful handmade goods sourced exclusively from Mexico. The space is dedicated to mid-modern and contemporary design, focused on items made from leading Mexican artists.
Raul Cabra, founder of Oax-i-fornia (a collaborative project between artisans, artists, and designers in Oaxaca, Mexico) created La Embajada in partnership with Larry McGuire of MML Hospitality and Molly Nutter of ByGeorge.
“There has always been a powerful bond between Mexico and Texas,” shares Raul Carbra. “With La Embajada, I am excited to tell the rich story of Mexican craft and creativity celebrating handmade modern. All of the artisans and designers involved in the project are individuals I have been friends with for decades. It brings me great joy and pride to have a place in the U.S. to showcase their extraordinary work.”
Located at 607 Blanco Street, La Embajada invites shoppers into its charming 1920s Craftsman-style house. The shop is a beautiful mix of two spaces: La Casa, a gallery of mid-century and contemporary furnishings and art from Mexico, and La Miscelanea, a Mexican general store featuring a range of neighborhood wares.
La Casa
Enter through the main doors of the house to discover La Casa, a gallery of objects and furnishings found throughout rooms of this home/store. La Casa will constantly evolve with new pieces and designs. All furnishings and design elements are unique, vintage, and commissioned specifically for La Embajada.
La Miscelanea
If you enter through the south side of the home (off the lawn between Rosie’s Wine Bar), you enter La Miscelanea which is more of a traditional Mexican general store. It showcases Oax-i-fornia sourced items, ceramics, objects, books, textiles and oddities.
La Embajada officially opens on Saturday, September 23 at 11 a.m. Follow @laembajda.shop for updates on store news and special events.
