Texas Performing Arts (TPA) will light up the trails of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center with the Texas premiere of DISNEY TIM BURTON’S THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS LIGHT TRAIL from Sept. 25 to Nov. 30. Inspired by the timeless 1993 classic film Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, this immersive nighttime experience transports visitors to the magical worlds of Halloween Town and Christmas Town with captivating scenes, music, and video projections. The strictly limited ten-week engagement will take place Wednesday to Sunday from dusk until 10:15 p.m. Tickets go on sale Aug. 15.

The live-to-film event will feature Sam Raimi’s cult horror classic “Evil Dead” accompanied by a live ensemble performing the film’s original score by composer Joe LoDuca.
The screening will showcase a newly restored version of the 1981 film. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show beginning at 7 p.m.

Conversation with Polish award-winning writer and journalist Witold Szablowski at UT Austin. Dr. Mary Neuburger will lead the discussion with the author of fascinating books and reportages that look at history, politics, and people’s behavior through food and personal stories. Meet Polish award-winning writer and journalist Witold Szablowski at the Round Rock Public Library. He will share stories behind his fascinating reportages that look at the world through the eyes of personal cooks of the world’s infamous dictators. The meeting will be moderated by a veteran journalist and professor of journalism, Erna Smith. Cooking demonstrations of dishes from the book’s recipes will spice up the event, and the audience will be invited to taste them. Free admission. RSVP recommended

A special meet-and-greet and book signing pop-up at East Austin’s iconic restaurant Justine’s, “rooted in the spectacular events and artistic collaborations for which the space is now notorious” (Ben Wright, Tribeza). Witold Szabłowski, the award-winning author and storyteller behind “How to Feed a Dictator,” will be there at a table from 1-3:30 pm to meet guests and sign books (available for sale there). Justine’s will be adding a dictators’ dish, adapted from the book by their chef Manuel Rocha, as a special in their lunch menu, just for this occasion. Participants will depart from the Paramount at 5:30 p.m. for a 0.8-mile run to Scholz Garten before returning to the theater for the film screening at 8 p.m. The evening will feature caroling, a costume contest, and plenty of elf-inspired antics, with prizes awarded before the movie begins.
