Laura Rathe Fine Art will present “Interwoven,” a two-person exhibition featuring new works by Texas-based artists Sydney Yeager and Caprice Pierucci. The exhibition explores the relationship between painting and sculpture, spontaneity and structure, and permanence and transformation through Yeager’s wet-into-wet paintings and Pierucci’s sculptural works. The opening reception will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 10, with both artists in attendance, and the exhibition will remain on view through Oct. 5.

Davis Gallery & Framing is pleased to announce Passing Beauty, a solo exhibition featuring new works by Amy Banner Updegrove, on view from Sept. 10th through Oct. 10th, 2026.

A native Texan who has lived and worked in New York and Los Angeles, Updegrove brings a rich background in media, design and fashion — including leadership roles at Polo Ralph Lauren, Los Angeles Magazine and Texas Monthly — to her artistic practice. Informed by visual elements used to communicate mood, story, season or location, Updegrove creates tactile, three-dimensional builds and collages using mixed materials like paper, fabric, metal, acrylic and leather. Combining letterpress fonts, woven textiles and grounding geometric forms, her compositions shift dynamically with light and perspective, resulting in patterns that reflect both the natural and man-made while highlighting their subtle differences.

The gallery invites the public to the opening reception of Passing Beauty on Thursday, Sept. 10th from 6-9pm. Come celebrate this compelling exploration of the fleeting nature of beauty and discover how Updegrove’s unique mixed-media compositions capture the fragile harmonies of our surrounding environments.

The Blanton Museum of Art will celebrate Grandparents’ Day with a multigenerational afternoon of art and family activities from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 13. Guests can take part in creative and mindfulness activities, storytime, gallery scavenger hunts, face painting and outdoor games. Families can also pick up the museum’s new “Passport to Art” booklet and collect stamps toward prizes.

Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for youth; children 5 and younger and Blanton members receive free admission.

Women & Their Work hosts its annual Red Dot Art Spree on Thursday, Sept. 17, celebrating Austin’s arts community while raising funds for the organization.

The lively evening invites guests to browse and purchase more than 170 works by local artists, including paintings, sculptures, drawings and photography, all priced at $1,500 or less. Purchases will be tax-free for the night.

The event will also feature curated food and drinks, spirited conversation, an artist-led collaborative painting experience in the courtyard, a color strobe photo booth by Smilebooth and an all-vinyl DJ set by Kowboy.

A soil horizon is a layer of soil whose adjacent layers differ in color, texture, structure and composition, acting as a relative time referencing tool. While these layers mark chapters in earths time geologically, ceramics records our cultural histories, diligently remembering every gesture and mythological evolution. This new work aims to function as a site for remembering, reimagining and collectively reckoning with the layered horizons of our identities and origins. Through this work, ancestral craft and storylines are honored, and contribute to the richer, more nuanced conversation about who we are and what we might become.
