Verdant Gallery presents the opening of two solo exhibitions: Hunter Ash’s “Valleys Made High and Andrew Long’s “Returning Home, The Quiet of Undoing”. Ash’s new abstract painting series offers spaces of comfort and wonder. Inspired by the imagery in Isaiah 40, each painting hints at a natural landscape as both something we inhabit and something continually changing. Long’s paintings explore unfettered boundaries and the permission to wander in and out of abstraction, form, color as well as organic representation and beauty. The results are two exhibitions of works that are colorful, playful, and resonate with deep emotion.
Both exhibits will be on view through November 22nd.

Davis Gallery & Framing is pleased to announce Enclosures – featuring the works of Fallon Bartos, Charles Heppner, and John Sager – on display October 24th through November 21st, 2026. These three artists define enclosures, thinking both inside and outside of the box, in brilliantly unique ways.
Fallon Bartos, the Apothecarian, has always looked at the earth as a quiet language of forms pretending to be something else. A twisted branch becomes a limb; a cluster of lichen reveals a face. Her creative process belongs to this slip of the mind. She enjoys finding accidental patterns, dismantling them, and rebuilding completely new structures. This work is an invitation to slow down and see the magic hidden in things exactly as they are—and exactly as they are not.
Charles Heppner, the Romantic Theorist, questions his societal role through his Sanctum Boxes. These exquisite, intimate mixed-media constructions explore spirituality, universal interconnectedness, and humanity’s relationship with nature through visual layers and line. Heppner began creating these boxes two decades ago after a personal spiritual awakening tied to praxis—putting beliefs into active practice. Today, his work focuses on stewardship of Mother Earth. Guided by Rachel Carson’s belief that marveling at natural wonders diminishes our appetite for destruction, Heppner uses art to inspire environmental reverence.
John Sager, the archivist, is a material driven artist who gathers found objects, distressed books, and wooden printing blocks to assemble evocative box sculptures. Inspired by childhood summers in a Texas junkyard, world fairs, and 37 years designing exhibitions at the Blanton Museum of Art, he discovers discarded items that belong together. Working with steel, paper, glass, and wood, Sager turns chaos into order through sequence, surface, and form, breathing new life into forgotten remnants of human history.

Danish painter Magnus returns to Austin for beyond brushstrokes, his third solo exhibition with Unchained.Art Contemporary Gallery. Bold, figurative, and carrying a Pop Art sensibility, his work rewards a slower, closer read, layered with storytelling, humor, and hidden detail. Human figures and animals carry his recurring preoccupations: their strength and their personality. In this new work, he reaches back into the denser, more surreal energy of his earlier paintings, letting a little more fantasy return. Magnus travels from Copenhagen to be present for the opening.
