The Paramount Theatre will present “Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About a Terrible Monster” on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, with performances at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The family-friendly production is staged by the acclaimed theater company Manual Cinema and is co-presented with Texas Performing Arts.
Based on beloved books by Mo Willems, the show brings Leonardo, the Terrible Monster and Sam, the Most Scaredy-Cat Kid in the Whole World to life using hundreds of puppets to create a live “movie” onstage.
The performance is recommended for ages 4 and up. A pop-up BookPeople book fair will be available in the lobby before and after the show.

ZACH Theater will present “Murder on the Orient Express,” a stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic whodunit, running Jan. 21 through March 1, 2026, at The Topfer at ZACH.
Adapted for the stage by Ken Ludwig and directed by Jenny Lavery, the production follows famed detective Hercule Poirot as a luxurious train journey turns deadly, plunging passengers into a tightly wound murder mystery. The show features an opulent 1930s-inspired set and cinematic video design.
Tickets start at $28. The production is recommended for ages 12 and up and runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission.
Special events include Pay What You Wish Week from Jan. 21–25, Pride Night on Jan. 22, Zachademia Night on Jan. 28, Champagne Opening on Jan. 29, and an ASL-interpreted performance on Feb. 7.

“Rara avis” which means “rare bird” in Latin is a highly physical, visually stunning and emotionally resonant international program with critically acclaimed dancers and choreography. The world premiere of “Rara Avis” by ISHIDA follows a singer who struggles with imposter syndrome as she returns to stage after taking a hiatus.
The program includes “Mutual Comfort” by world renowned Romanian choreographer Edward Clug and a new dance theater work by award-winning British Finnish choreographer Kristian Lever. The evening promises to be a unique opportunity to see some of the best and most interesting choreography from Europe and the U.S.

Now under the leadership of Texas Performing Arts (TPA) in collaboration with Impact Arts, the move marks a major new chapter for the program, which has grown from 19 participating schools at its founding in 2014 to 37 schools in 2025, impacting more than 20,000 students and educators.
Modeled after the Tony Awards®, the HAYAs recognize excellence both on stage and behind the scenes, with 19 award categories including best production, lead and supporting performances, and technical design. Winners are also eligible to advance to the National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (The Jimmy Awards®) in New York City.
