North Austin is gaining an eye-catching new dining destination this week. Taquero Mucho will celebrate a soft opening on Friday, Jan. 7 for its second brick and mortar, located at 11101 Burnet Road.

It’s likely you’re already familiar with the original Taquero Mucho’s glorious bright pink interiors that make even the most proud Austinite pull out their phone. The recent location is no different, with rosy shades covering the floor, ceiling and furniture, accented by overflowing florals, marble countertops and charming neon signs.

The popular spot is the brainchild of hospitality brand Gabriela’s Group, founded by Gabriela Bucio alongside her brother, Arturo. As the group’s creative director, Gabriela has had a major role in establishing the bar program and visual experience of the restaurant, highlighting feelings and flavors influenced by her upbringing in Michoacán, Mexico.

While wildly creative, the menu items will continue to be made with a focus on fresh ingredients rather than artificial flavorings. Meanwhile, natural fruits and fresh-squeezed juices will be a staple in the bar’s drinks — plus CBD-inspired cocktails and local brand collaborations.

Aside from being a fun new place to visit, the opening is also an example of the dedication the group has exhibited during some of our city’s most difficult moments.

“The fact that we are able to expand Taquero Mucho to a second location in less than two years is a true testament to the hard work of my amazing team,” Gabriela recently announced. “Without them, none of this would be possible and I’m so grateful to be surrounded by so many talented people.”

The completion of the space marks yet another addition to Gabriela’s Group’s rapidly growing empire of buzzy eateries across Austin. The roster now includes a second South Austin location of flagship restaurant Gabriela’s; a charming Revival Coffee boutique; seafood-focused Mexican restaurant Seareinas; and two live music venues named Mala Vida and Mala Santa. But it’s clear they’re just getting started.

Keep up-to-date with restaurant hours and fun events through their website and @taqueromucho, including an official grand opening bash to come this spring. The new restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Sundays.
